The Approach Plates supplied as part of the Air
Chart System are actual FAA/National Aeronautical
Charting Office (NACO) Terminal Publication Procedures
books. The books come either loose-leaf with holes
punched at the top (see "Book
Buddy Ring Binders") or bound like a
paperback book. Plates are available for the full
U.S. or by areas (see map at lower right).
You receive one set of Approach Plate Books per
annual cycle. Subsequently, on the FAA's 28-day
cycle, you receive a NOTAM update sheet with any
revisions to the underlying plates. The 56-day
cycle updates are cumulative; if you haven't flown
or updated for several months all you have to
do is refer to the current, cumulative NOTAM update.
If there is no change listed for a given approach,
then the existing plate is still current. If there
is a change listed, all you have to do is make
the change to that plate. You do not have to update
plates with revisions to approaches you won't
be flying. With Air Chart Systems, you won't be
spending hours and hours of filing new plates
with minor changes or changes to approaches you
will never fly. At any point in the cycle, all
you have to do is check the NOTAMS, update any
pertinent plates, and go. You always have current
plates!
As an added feature, we now post all current FAA/NACO Approach Plates to our website every 28 days. As a subscriber, you can print out current plates at any time during our cycle. |
